How to Cure Constipation In Five Easy Steps!
Constipation CureConstipation causes misery for a lot of people. Symptoms of poor bowel habits include gas or flatulence, abdominal bloating, feeling sluggish, lack of energy and pain. Constipation can be a symptom of more serious illness so it is always worthwhile getting checked out by your doctor.
The aim is to keep your stools soft so that they pass easily through your colon. Lack of bowel movements can lead to hemorrhoids so tackle your problem today with these five easy steps:
1.Make sure you included plenty of fiber in your diet. Fiber absorbs water and can help to soften your stools and speed their passage. You want to add high fiber food like oatmeal or whole grain cereals. Ditch your white bread and try eating different grains such as rye and wholebran. Add some bran to your cereals and yogurt but begin with small quantities as you may suffer some unpleasant side effects.
2. Eat more fruit - dried, tinned (in their own juice) or fresh. Not all fruits are equal when it comes to dealing with constipation. Personally, I found pineapples to be a fantastic cure. Melons and plums have a high amount of fiber in them as wells as dried fruits like figs, raisins, apricots and of course the well known favorite prunes. Don't forget that prunes and their juice have been used for centuries as a mild laxative. Don't make the same mistake I did which was to drink prune juice as well as eating a lot of apricots - my resulting problem wasn't constipation!
3. It sounds obvious but you should also drink more water to combat hard stools. Fluids help keep digestive products moving through your system so it is very important for you to drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day. Keeping up with your fluids is important especially if you are increasing your intake of fiber. Your body needs to water to soak up the fiber otherwise it can make the constipation a lot worse.
4. Eat natural yogurt containing a bacteria called acidophilus. This bacteria helps stimulate the intestinal bacteria to break down food better and thus aid it's passage via your digestive system.
5. Avoid the food that are major factors in causing bowel problems. White rice, white bread, white pasta (noticing a trend here?), cornflakes and similar cereals can cause your toilet problem.
You will often hear people telling you to avoid bananas when you are constipated. I had to take my son to see a consultant as his constipation was so severe. This doctor recommended he eat a banana a day to deal with his severe problem and he now has normal bowel habits. But I know other people that have tried this advice and didn't experience any relief. So perhaps you can try it and see what effect if any it has on you.
