Foods That Relieve Constipation Also Help Prevent Bowel Impaction

Constipation

Foods that relieve constipation should be eaten on a regular basis by anyone that has bowel impaction or problems going to the bathroom without straining. Straining when going to the bathroom has actually caused a heart attack in many people over the years.

You do not have to be a victim if you just eat more of the foods that relieve constipation, and less of the foods that cause constipation on a daily basis. A heart attack is not the only health problem you can develop as a result from being constipated.

Chronic Constipation can lead to many other health problems:

--- Bowel Impaction
--- Re-absorption of toxins into the bloodstream
--- Headaches
--- Malnutrition
--- Indigestion
--- Hemorrhoids from straining
--- Varicose veins
--- Diverticulosis
--- Irritability
--- Bowel cancer
--- Auto immune diseases
--- Abdominal pains
--- Depression
--- Weight gain

I know I sure don't want any of the symptoms listed above. If you suffer from any of the symptoms on the list, then you would greatly benefit by eating more of the foods that are on the foods that relieve constipation list below, and avoid doing the things, and eating the foods that cause constipation that I have also listed below.

Foods that relieve constipation

--- Psyllium husks
--- Ground Flax seeds
--- Okra
--- Prunes
--- Dates
--- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
--- Potatoes
--- Lettuce
--- Onions
--- Carrots
--- Green peppers
--- Apples
--- Pears
--- Oranges
--- Grapefruits
--- Grapes
--- Strawberries
--- Beans
--- Other fruits and vegetables

Causes of constipation

--- Eating refined foods like white flour that contain no fiber.
--- Eating a lot of Cheeses
----Pasta
--- Pizza
--- Cookies
--- Drinking sodas and sugary drinks
--- Eating a lot of Meat (meat has no fiber in it)
--- Getting dehydrated
--- Overeating nuts and seeds (soaking Raw nuts overnight in water will help but they are not as tasty)
--- Drugs or Medications
--- Improper diet
--- Not going when you feel the urge and "holding it in" because you are not close to a bathroom or think you are too busy.

Over the years we have discovered that the same foods that relieve constipation, are also the same foods that are very healthy for you. The reason they are so healthy is that they contain vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and they are high in fiber. Also if you eat them raw (except beans and potatoes) they will also contain living enzymes that aid in digestion.

Let me just go over with you a few of the worst foods to eat if you are trying to relieve constipation.

Cheese

Cheeses are very clogging to your digestive track. Every time I eat cheese, or meals containing cheese, it feels like my stomach turns into a knot, and I usually feel clogged up with stomach pains for a few days until it has worked his way back out of my system.

However I have been on a healthy diet program for a long time now, so my digestive track is used to processing and eliminating my foods without them getting clogged up in my intestines.

But, if you have been eating cheese and other clogging foods for a long time, you might be used to the feeling of having a clogged up digestive track, and most people in the United States have been eating this way their whole lives so they don't know what it feels like to not have digestive pains of some type.

White bread

Just about every sandwich, every burger on a bun, dinner roles, cakes, cookies, pies, pizza, pasta, and fast food biscuits, can cause constipation, especially if they are eaten alone without enough of the foods that relieve constipation also being eaten at the same meal.

This is because they contain very little fiber in them. Any time you eat constipating type foods, you should balance it out by eating foods that are high in fiber that I have listed above.

Pizza

Pizza is another food that usually takes a long time to move through the digestive tract. Pizza is also another food that has almost no fiber in. Cheese and white bread are two of the main foods that will clog down your digestive tract. And pizza contains both.

How to avoid constipation:

--- Stay hydrated by drinking enough pure water, raw fruit juices and raw vegetable juices.
--- Stop or cut way down on eating refined foods. (They glue us down inside)
--- Eat a lot more of the foods that relieve constipation that I have listed above.

If you are constipated, then you have food that is stuck in your intestines. This food that is stuck in your intestines starts to rot more and more the longer it is in your body.

Constipation is unhealthy for the body, especially if you are eating toxic, artificial chemical containing foods, or foods that you are intolerant to. Many people have food allergies that they might not know about that can cause many different types of symptoms.

To avoid constipation, make sure that you are not eating refined starches that have had the fiber removed like white rice, pastas, breads, tortillas, and biscuits. Also when eating any type of starch, you want the meal to have enough oil in it. Extra virgin olive or coconut oil are good clean sources of oil to use.

The more oil in the meal the less chance of constipation. But too much oil will zap your energy. Also you will want to eat enough fiber containing vegetables (but not fruits) with any starch-based meal.

If you eat more raw fruit smoothies for breakfast, then the high water content (the pulp of the orange, grapes, or Grapefruit) and the fiber in pears, apples, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and cranberries should keep things moving and rinsed out.

Also smoothies are blended into a liquid, which also helps to avoid constipation. Another good meal to eat to relieve constipation is to make a soup with many neutral vegetables, add some okra (okra is kind of slippery in texture) and then blend it into an emulsion with some Extra Virgin Olive oil or Coconut oil. These liquid type meals rarely ever get stuck inside your digestive tract.

If you eat more of the foods that relieve constipation, and cut out the constipating ones, you will have better chances of not developing bowel impaction. If you already have bowel impaction, you might be able to slowly reverse it by eating more of the foods that relieve constipation.

What exactly is bowel impaction?

Bowel impaction is where a mass of food gets stuck inside your intestines and turns into a hard lump that doesn't come out. This lump of hard fecal matter then starts to rot. Then other foods that you eat later still has to be eliminated eventually, so they just have to go around the hard mass to get out. Your body might then develop chronic diarrhea to try and deal with the situation.

Bowel impaction can lead to the bowels becoming enlarged, which can then put too much pressure on the veins that are near the colon that are coming from various organs and muscles in the body.

Your organs need a fresh steady blood supply to function properly. You want all of your organs to work as they should if you want to stay healthy. Also high blood pressure can be because you have too many of your veins being pinched off. This is how varicose veins are formed. This is also how hemorrhoids are formed.

Just think of a water hose, if you pinch of the end of it, the pressure builds up and makes the hose expand. If you have high blood pressure because of veins being pinched off, then your heart will have to work harder to pump the blood through them.

By eating more of the foods that relieve constipation on a daily basis, you will feel better, you will become more regular in your bowel movements, and you will not have to worry as much about developing a more serious disease in the future that is caused from being chronically constipated.

I know that eating refined foods, candy, cakes, crackers, cheese, and pizzas are very tasty, but they cause constipation in many people. It is just not worth it to destroy our health by eating an unhealthy diet on a consistent basis. Also, once you cut out all the junk, and only eat healthy foods for a period of time, your taste buds will adapt, and the healthy foods will actually start to taste good.

While constipation can be a very serious issue, most of the treatment options can be much less severe than surgery or doctor visits. There are many constipation remedies that can cure the body of constipation and lead it to develop a perfectly normal schedule of bowel movements.

Most people effected by constipation have a mild case causes primarily through lifestyle choices and do not need to take the measures a person suffering with chronic constipation has to. Laxatives are the most used form of constipation relief by those who choose to solve the problem on their own. Laxatives tend to be fairly cheap and will help the body to a normal bowel movement. They are taken mostly in gum, tablets or liquids and will do a variety of tasks such as:

o Bulk forming laxatives- the safest form of laxative designed to make the stool softer allowing for easier elimination. They are taken with water to absorb into the intestine and prevent obstruction

o Osmotics- helps the body's fluids flow through the colon and cause bowel distention. People with diabetes should consult a physician before taking these laxatives because of electrolyte imbalances

o Lubricants- these laxatives enable stool to move through the intestines more easily and should stimulate a movement within 8 hours

o Chloride activators- help intestinal fluid increase to let stool pass. This aids in cutting back the pain and symptoms of constipation.

While laxatives are incredibly helpful for the majority of people, there are still those who choose other options and others that cannot take them due to other medicines they are taking.

Constipation Cure

Is your cat experiencing hard, compacted stools that are difficult or painful to pass, no bowel movement or the urge to move bowels, abdominal bloating, cramps or abdominal pain and loss of appetite? Chances are it is suffering from constipation. Fortunately, there are a number of effective home remedies for cats with constipation which can cure the problem and reduce any discomfort associated with it.

Causes

Constipation develops when waste becomes clogged inside the colon. If waste is not removed and stays in the colon for too long, it can result in toxins and harmful bacteria leaking into the body, causing other health problems. That is why regular elimination of waste products is vital for your cat's health.

Constipation can result from a number of factors but diet is the most important one. A diet low in fibre and insufficient water intake combined with an inactive lifestyle are often to blame. You can prevent constipation in your cat by ensuring it eats a healthy diet. And regular exercise will help not only keep your cat fit and healthy but will help with digestion as well.

Diet

Therefore one of the most effective home remedies for cats with constipation is to feed a balanced diet; ideally raw rather than processed food. Avoid dry food altogether for the time being as it contains very little moisture. Adding a tablespoon of olive oil to your cat's food a couple of times a week will help to maintain regular bowel movements and also keeps the fur glossy.

One teaspoon of canned pumpkin or half a teaspoon of wheat bran added to the food will add additional fibre which helps softening the stool and brings relief. Psyllium husk and green oats provide a similar result and feeding probiotics will balance the consistency of the stool.

Sufficient liquid intake is also important. Ensure your cat has access to fresh drinking water at all times. Some cats don't like chlorinated or fluorinated water. If yours falls into this category, give filtered or bottled water. You cannot force a cat to drink, so in order to ensure your cat gets enough fluid, you can pour some water over the food. Avoid soaking it though as this is not very appetising.

Herbal remedies

Herbal home remedies for cats with constipation can also be used to great effect to cure constipation. One remedy you can easily make yourself is a tisane of wild chicory. Give one dropperful, twice a day. In addition, sprinkle a pinch of plantain seeds into water and give three times daily.

Alternatively, you can give one dropperful of a walnut leave tisane or a tisane made from fennel shoots, three times a day. Fennel shoots can also be chopped and fed raw to your cat. Dried figs coated in honey and given as a pill are another great home remedy for cats with constipation.

Hygiene

If your cat lives mainly indoors, keep the litter box clean at all times. Cats are clean creatures and a dirty litter box can discourage it from using the toilet.

Lifestyle

Cats also need exercise. Activity is good as it stimulates digestion of food and bowel movements. If your cat is not naturally very active, encourage it with some exiting cat games.

The above home remedies for cats with constipation will bring effective relief from the symptoms and take care of the problem naturally.

Constipation usually means difficulty in passing a stool; diminished frequency in opening of the bowels or the passage of hard, dry stools. Constipation is a common childhood problem.

The signs that a child may have constipation include:

pain and straining when going to the toilet. A hard stool can tear the lining of the anus leading to more pain and bleeding.
diarrhoea or soiling. When the bowel is blocked, as in constipation, the body attempts to pass a bowel motion by becoming runny and going around the blocked area. The child may have marks on their underwear or soil themselves when they are undertaking physical exercise. Constipation can also lead to a lack of sensitivity in the muscle of the anus itself so that the feeling of needing to go to the toilet is lost.
stomach or abdominal aches and pains.
other problems such as headaches, skin problems, poor concentration, muscle aches, bad breath and tiredness. These are all associated with the reabsorption of toxins from the bowel and their remaining in general circulation.

What are the causes of constipation?

The most common cause of constipation is a diet high in processed food and low in roughage. These are however, not the only causes. Other causes include the following.

Not drinking enough fluids.
Food allergies or intolerance. Allergies are often associated with cereal and dairy products.
Eating too many wheat based product, such as bread and pasta.
An imbalance in the gastrointestinal bacteria. A recent course of antibiotics or a diet that has a lot of processed foods and sugars can lead to an imbalance of the intestinal flora.
Children who are too involved in what they are doing will sometimes ignore the urge to go to the toilet allowing the motion to become dry and hard to pass.
Iron sulphate is added to some foods such as rice cereals, formulas and drinks such as Milo. In children who are sensitive to this it can lead to constipation.
Stress and anxiety. Like adults the digestive tracts of children contract during stress. This can cause the bowel motion to pass through too quickly (causing diarrhoea) or too slowly, causing too much fluid to be absorbed, resulting in constipation.
Insufficient exercise. Exercise is needed to activate the muscles of the digestive tract and to move the waste material through the intestines.

What can you do about constipation?

You need to treat the existing problem, that is clear the bowel of hard bowel motions, and then work on preventing the situation from recurring. What you can do:

Massage to encourage movement through the large bowel. Have the child lie on their back and knees raised. With warm hands apply gentle pressure. Start from the lower right abdomen, work your way up towards the rib cage, then go across the stomach and down the left side. This is roughly the direction of the bowel and is helpful for stimulating the muscles to move hard stools.
Use juices to assist the intestines. The juices can include prune, apple and lemon. Spinach, watercress and dandelion leaves can be added to milder juices such as carrot, cucumber, beetroot and celery. These can be used in small amounts or diluted.
Increase the consumption of fibre rich foods. These include vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds and at the same time reduce the intake of sweets, chocolate, cakes, bread and white rice. Don't overdo the nuts though, as this can actually be constipating.
Eat meals at a regular time so the bowel is able to get into the habit of moving at certain times.
Increase the amount of water your child drinks. Children need to drink 6 to 8 glasses per day. Using milk, cordials and soft drinks can cause further problems so use filtered water and fresh natural juices as much as possible.
Encourage plenty of physical activity.
Increase the number of friendly bacteria in the bowel by the use of probiotics.
Remind children to go to the toilet.
Change the child's position when they go to the toilet. Place a small stool in front of the toilet so they are able to have their feet on it and this will raise their knees and change the angle of the hips. This will place the child in a position that requires less pushing.. Squatting is the ideal position for all humans when defecating.
Eat plenty of magnesium rich foods. Magnesium is important for muscle contraction and a deficiency in magnesium can cause constipation. Foods rich in magnesium include nuts, whole grains and beans.
Add some psyllium seeds to the diet. For children who are prone to constipation a daily supply of psyllium seeds can help. This is a fiber that helps regulate the activity of the bowel. When mixed with water or diluted juices they can create larger and softer stools. In order to work effectively the seeds need to absorb water so the child needs to drink plenty of fluids. The dosage for children from 3 years of age is 1 teaspoon twice daily added to diluted juice.
Talk to your child about any problems or stresses that they might have. Expressing concerns and receiving reassurance can greatly reduce stresses that may cause or contribute to constipation.

You will need to see a health professional if the constipation is difficult to relieve, if it is associated with a lot of pain or blood or if the child is doing all the right things and the problem is still there. Your health professional will consider the possibility of allergic problems and should explore this more thoroughly.

Constipation in Children

Examine Constipation Remedies - Biofeedback, Probiotics, and Acupressure additional

We need to make regular bowel movements ideally one or even twice per day to help eliminate wastes and keep our bodies in balance. Constipation is the disruption of natural bowel movements and can affect most people at one time or another. There are many reasons for constipation and many constipation remedies which are very effective at treating this problem. We'll discuss a few interesting therapies which have good results.

1. Biofeedback - Biofeedback therapy seems to help people who suffer from constipation caused by pelvic floor dysfunction. This is a condition where the pelvic floor muscles do not function properly and can be caused by obesity, an enlarged prostate, or can occur after childbirth.

Biofeedback techniques are used to teach the patient how to use his/her muscles more effectively to defaecate and relieve the constipation symptoms. In a number of studies, it has been found that 70% of the patients have found good relief.

The tests which have been conducted compared biofeedback training where the patient had one session per week for weeks against laxatives. All these patients had previously tried fiber supplements as well as enemas or suppositories with minimal success.

After six months of training, it was found that the biofeedback sessions were more effective than the laxative. These benefits lasted for at least two years following treatment.

2. Probiotics is another remedy which has good results. Probiotics which includes the organism called lactobacillus acidophilus are naturally present in the digestive tract. There is some good evidence that the probiotic supplements may improve constipation.

In one study, a probiotic drink resulted in significant improvement in the severity of constipation and stool consistency. However it has not been equally effective for all patients. In another study in children, the results showed minimal to no improvement.

3. Acupressure - This ancient healing practice involves the application of finger pressure to specific points on the body.

Acupressure has been used to successfully treat constipation by applying pressure to the large intestine 4 point. You can find acupressure techniques which can be done from home by searching on the Internet. Just be careful and follow the directions exactly. Don't continue with the technique if there is any pain or discomfort and these methods should not be used on pregnant women.

4. Magnesium - A lack of this mineral has been shown to lead to constipation. The good news is that you can take in healthy levels of this important mineral by eating lots of green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.

You can also take magnesium as a convenient supplement. Magnesium is needed to help enhance normal muscle function including intestinal muscles. So be sure to maintain healthy levels of this mineral in your body and you may avoid symptoms of constipation.

Therefore, in normal case scenarios, home remedies are the options preferred by general consensus. Such forms of natural intervention, in the alleviation of constipation, include the afflicted individual's adequate intake of liquids, mainly good quality water, along with fibers from a dietary source. The fiber options are merely the inclusion of ample vegetables, fruits and whole grain breads, to incorporate a better balance in the daily diet, along with such considerations in supplementing the diet of the ailing with linseeds, all, to encourage the natural approach towards home remedies for constipation.

Constipation sometimes can be mistaken for any other stomach disorders which are rampant. But when you find it very hard to "go", accompanied by other symptoms such as headaches, bloated abdomen, general discomfort in some extreme cases, passing out blood when stooling, then you've definitely got constipation. Fortunately, there are remedies for constipation. These can work like magic if used at that point in time.

Usually natural practitioners recommend drinking lots of water, eating foods with high fiber content, and consistent exercise. While these are not very difficult to do, it takes a lot of discipline to maintain a steady regimen that will eventually benefit you.

So what are the remedies for constipation?

1. Use Triphala Supplements and Dabur Trifgol Laxative: Psyllium husk and Triphala. Triphala is made up of three fruits, namely, Behada (bibhitaki), Amla (amalaki), and Harada (haritaki). It combines the properties of both a purgative and a lubricating bulk laxative. It enhances the total health of the colon acting as laxative without causing irritation or cramps and gently stimulates the walls of the intestine and restores tone to the colon, hence aiding and enhancing the process of elimination, making the colon clean and free of toxic waste. A teaspoonful of Triphala churna with warm milk or water, taken just before bed is also a very good remedy for constipation.

Psyllium husk is a product derived from the seed of the Plantago ovata plant. It has been expressed as an emollient, cooling laxative and diuretic making it a popular household cure for constipation

2. Reduce sugar intake, the quantity of refined foods consumed, meat products, dairy products, salt intake, alcohol intake, caffeine usually found in coffee and cola drinks, and soda. Increase the quantity of water and fluids you drink. The fluids do not have to be in the form of water only. They could be as fruit juice, tea, soup and other fluids as long as they do not have caffeine in them. Include more fiber in your diet. Don't forget to include whole grains, vegetable proteins and vegetables itself. Consume lots of fiber. If this is the first time you are just starting with fiber consumption, don't start with taking too much. Start with a little and as time goes by, add to the quantity you are taking.

3. Drink a glass of warm milk before going to bed. It aids the movement of the bowels in the morning.

4. Drink at least a glass of water first thing in the morning, and then take a walk around.

5. Add lemon juice to warm water and drink 2-3 times a day.

6. One or two teaspoonfuls of Aloe gel is in order twice a day.

Please note that these are just a few of the varied remedies for constipation and you may not take all of the steps at the same time. Just choose that which suits you best and go with it.

Constipation Kills! Did you know that? You could treat all the symptoms and think you are well when indeed it is still in your body causing cancer. If you'd like to maintain bowel regularity, try natural remedies for constipation. Don't sit around watching the world go by! Constipation is annoying and a waste of time, especially when you can actually do something about it.

The thing with constipation is that it can lead to other things, like hemorrhoids. You're sitting longer than you should, which puts added strain and pressure, which is obviously not a good thing. In doing this, you can end up with hemorrhoids, which can bleed and hurt. You don't need or want this, right? Well, you can do something about it by using natural remedies for constipation.

Constipation Relief With Diet

You've heard it all before. There are things you can do with your diet that can help, and, to be honest, it's true. Whether you're doing it or not is another matter. Sometimes, a change in diet is not only a difficult thing, but it's SO easy to revert back to old ways, especially at the first signs of improvement. Discipline is key.

Minerals can also play a part. Perhaps you're lacking some minerals in your diet, for example, magnesium. Minerals like magnesium, manganese and zinc help to maintain healthy fluid levels. Magnesium is arguably the most important, since it's vital for proper muscular function, which includes your intestinal muscles.

Whatever natural remedies for constipation you use, make sure to drink plenty of water.

As for fiber, it's been said a thousand times and it's 100% true. There's no need to even discuss this. Just make sure you include this, and stick to it!

Say Goodbye To Bloating & Discomfort

Constipation can cause other problems. After all, you're supposed to get rid of toxins, not keeping it hanging about and re-absorbed by the body. So imagine not being able to get rid of it! If you can't get rid of what you should, naturally, it can cause bloating, discomfort, pain and a loss of appetite. Your health can actually deteriorate...and all this for something that can be taken care of.

As mentioned, dietary fiber is important, but you MUST drink lots of water as well. The ironic thing is, even though you may be using natural remedies for constipation, eating lots of fiber and not drinking enough water can actually MAKE you constipated, so be careful.

Herbal Remedies For Constipation

There's an herbal remedy for constipation that begins to work on the body systems almost immediately and results should be seen within 12 hours or sooner. It contains 100% herbal ingredients and works with your system naturally.

Children over the age of 6 may occasionally use 1/2 - 1 tablet at night. Tablets may be crushed and mixed with a little food for those who prefer not to swallow them whole. It's perfectly safe to take in combination with other prescribed medication due to the high safety profile of the ingredients.

It aids healthy peristaltic movement through the digestive tract and as an added bonus, it also acts as a liver tonic. It can be taken with water or juice.

Whether you're looking for a constipation relief or cure, try using a natural remedy for your constipation.

Constipation refers as one of the most common health complaints in the United States. The frequency of bowel movement is typically individualized. For someone, it is normal to have one or more is a day, whereas for someone it may not be that regular. However, it has all the probability that you are getting constipated if you are having your bowel movement less than 3 times a week.

It is indeed an uncomfortable experience, when you feel too much strain during the bowel movement process. Constipation is common and can affect anyone anytime. But it is more prevalent among women and in individuals over 60 years of age. It is more frequently observed during pregnancy, post pregnancy phase, or during post surgery period.

If we search for the solution to this problem, most of us prefer to consider natural remedies as the first item on the list. Thereby, this article sheds lights on different aspects of natural remedies for constipation problem.

Take Fiber to Support Your System

If you are having diet low in fiber for a prolonged period, it is likely that you are having constipation, sooner or later. If your diet consists of insoluble fiber, you will have bulky and soft textured stool. It is because it passes throughout the body almost unchanged along with bodily wastages.

You can easily avail insoluble fiber from fruits, vegetable, and whole grains. You may try having brown rice, whole grain bread and bran as a part of your meal. You may also have fiber in your food with ground flaxseeds. You can sprinkle it over any food and enjoy its nutty flavor with good nutritional value. It is available from any standard grocery store.

While taking fiber in your daily diet, you should not forget about drinking plenty amount of water. Otherwise, fiber will not function as one of the best natural remedies for constipation rather it will offer you an adverse effect in return.

Take Liquid to Make Soften

You should supply enough liquid to your system to keep it healthy. It is also true in the case of constipation. You should drink plenty of water to make your bowel movement smooth and soft and easy to release. Water can be considered as one of the most significant natural remedies for constipation. You need to be more observant about your consumption of alcohol and other beverages; they can be dehydrating in time.

Stay Natural with Natural Laxatives

There are several natural laxatives that function as stimulant to bowel movement; hence they can be effective natural remedies for constipation. The names under this list may include Cascara sagrada, Rhubarb, Aloe, Senna, and Buckthorn. These herbs are indeed effective for short term usages, but in most of the cases the dependency problem over these herbs has been encountered as a serious issue under consideration. Most of us have a tendency to make a prolonged usage of these herbs in order to clear bowel movement on a daily basis.

However, it is not at all recommended in a typical case, unless it comes under any medical supervision. Prolonged usage of these herbs may lead to a complete inability of the bowel system to move on its own. This again may lead to other complications such as chronic diarrhea, muscle weakening, liver or kidney impairment, and potassium depletion.

Take Advantage of Biofeedback Therapy

Considered as one of the most effective natural remedies for constipation, Biofeedback therapy offers a better coordination of muscle movement in order to defecate. It is mostly effective in case of pelvic floor dysfunction, in which constipation comes as an inevitable side effect. Several scientific studies recommended that biofeedback therapy is much more beneficial compared to laxative, even in the long run.

Get benefits from Acupressure

Known as a traditional healing process, Acupuncture offers its valuable resources as one of the common natural remedies for constipation problem. It is finger pressing process in which particular pressure is applied to specific acupuncture points in the body. In acupressure, the target area for treating constipation is Large Intestine 4, in which a painless pressure needs to be executed.

When people find themselves dealing with the symptoms of a poor digestive system, or even improper digestion, they often assume that there is some pill or fix that can help them out. Nine times out of ten though, the natural constipation remedies that you are looking for are completely within your reach, as long as you understand the way your body really works, and start giving it the types of foods that it really needs to help you properly digest what you are taking in. The old saying, you are what you eat really does ring true with your diet, and if you are eating junk, your body probably isn't going to give you much back in terms of being able to lose weight, or deal with poor digestive system symptoms such as constipation.

The reason so many people deal with this disorder is heavily reliant on the type of foods they eat, and the times that they are eating these bad foods. If people choose to eat late at night, and then go to lay down for bed again, their digestive systems are going to shut down which allows the toxins inside of the food to begin building up inside of your body and blood stream. You are also not going to be able to properly digest the food, getting the vitamins and nutrients that you need, as well as being able to push it through your system completely. When you are sleeping at night you are also unable to drink any water which greatly benefits in helping your body pass food through without any hangups. When you are depriving your body of water you are naturally going to have some form of constipation or another, but when you aren't getting enough water, and you are eating during the wrong times of your day, you are adding up for a pretty unhealthy situation that could call for a natural remedy for constipation.

When you start giving your body back the water that it needs to help flush everything through, as well as seeking out the help of a natural constipation remedy you are going to quickly get back to enjoying life without having the dread of going to the restroom. Taking in proper vitamins and nutrients help your liver and kidneys to push toxins out, which in turn greatly reduces the amounts of poorly digested food that go through your body. This in turn helps to relieve you of your constipation symptoms.

Constipation Remedy

Constipation

Constipation describes situations wherein patients have difficulty moving their bowels. From most of the persons complaining of Constipation, only a very few have any serious underlying disease that needs specialized tests and treatment by a gastroenterologist.

Educating the patient about worrying too much about bowel patterns can treat most of the cases. Bowel training - attempting a bowel movement everyday at the same time, preferably early mornings when colon activity is high - can be practiced. The food habits form the important part of the remedy. Eating high-fiber foods like cereals, vegetables and fruits helps a great deal. Limiting foods like ice cream, cheese, meat and processed foods is also preferable. Drinking 1.5 - 2 liters of water per day is essential, as is avoiding dehydrating drinks containing caffeine and alcohol. Regular exercise, besides having other health benefits, is a must for avoiding Constipation.

The diagnosis of Constipation is done using methods like physical examination, colorectal transit study, anorectal function tests, barium enema x ray and sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy.

If no appreciable improvement takes place with the lifestyle changes, then a bulk-forming laxative is indicated. Psyllium and methylcellulose are bulk-forming laxatives which can be used for a long time without side effects. Next in line are medications like hyprosmotics, lactulose, Polyethylene glycol, Glycerin and Sorbitol, and Salines like magnesium hydroxide, magnesium citrate and sodium phosphate. The third-line medications are Anthraquinones like Cascara sagrada, Emollients such as Docusates, Senna and mineral oil, and stimulants such as Phenolpthalein, castor oil or Bisacodyl.

The use of the above medicines must be under strict supervision by healthcare professionals, and only done as a short-term measure, since most of them have side effects. Patients under the administration of laxatives should aim at stopping them slowly. In most cases, the ability of the colon to contract will be restored after some time. Enemas and suppositories are used as an emergency treatment. Surgery should be considered as a last resort when all other measures fail.

Go through Constipated? How to Cure Constipation much more

Constipation is something that we all can suffer from at some stage in our lives. In fact 95% of all adult American's suffer from Constipation at least once. Being Constipated is a frustrating, painful experience that can also lead to further more severe health complications. Finding the right Constipation Remedy for you and finding a Constipation Remedy Fast is paramount to curing the problem.

In order to find the right Constipation remedy you must take a closer look at your lifestyle where a close analysis will often lead to discovery of the problem. It is important to remember that being Constipated is not a disease but is a symptom of some other problem.

The first place you need to look is your diet habits. Do you take enough fiber on board? Fiber is essential in order to help your digestive system. Fibre is essential for healthy bowel function. Fibre absorbs water and swells to become bulky, and helps the speedy and easy elimination of waste from the body. In this way a high fibre diet can cure or prevent problems such as Constipation.

Secondly is your body getting enough fluids. Eating plenty of Fiber may not necessarily stop you from being Constipated because ensuring you have enough water in your system is of paramount importance. When waste products from the digestive process are passing through the large intestine they are turned into stools. The large intestine absorbs water from the stools turning them into very hard stools and making it difficult for them to be passed through the rectum and anus. Ensuring that you are fully hydrated and drinking lots of water is essential in aiding the passing of stools from your body as the stools become softer and easier to pass.

Thirdly it has been proven that exercise is of vital importance in maintaining a health digestive system and in ensuring you stay free from being Constipated. Walking daily or engaging in low impact aerobic activities such as swimming strengthens the muscles of the intestines and helps to push the waste products through your system.

The majority of people who suffer from Constipation tend to rely on laxatives to cure the problem. However one of the causes of Constipation can be from using too many laxatives as the body becomes immune to them. Other medications can have the side affects of causing you to become Constipated.

Fiber and How it Eliminates Constipation

Constipation

Constipation

A diet with 40 grams of fiber provides protection and prevention against diseases such as kidney stones, varicose veins, obesity, heart disease, appendicitis, colon disease, diabetes, appendicitis, diverticulitis, and constipation.

When you eat fiber, it passes into your colon without getting digested in the small intestine. The good bacteria will use some of it as food, which makes them stronger, able to multiply, and keep bad bacteria in check.

Eating fiber reduces your fecal matter transit time from 3 days to 1 1/ 2 - 2days.

All processed foods, such as white flour products, have little or no fiber. Fiber is removed when various natural flours or grains are processed to make junk food. During this processing, nutrients, vitamins, and minerals are also removed. Only plant foods and lightly processed grains have fiber of varying amounts

Foods that are "fortified" with vitamins and minerals are unbalance and unhealthy since manufacturers cannot replace all the nutrients the food once had.

Fiber, bulk, or roughage, is one of the main nutrients you need to eat daily to relieve and prevent constipation and prevent many other diseases. Most fiber is fermented in your colon and provides some energy for the body. Fiber has two forms - soluble and insoluble.

Soluble Fiber

Soluble Fiber become gummy and viscous after it dissolves in water.

Soluble fiber has the ability to slow down digestion in the small intestine and prevent simple sugars from entering the bloodstream right away.

Because it absorbs water, soluble fiber softens and gives weight to fecal matter, and this makes fecal matter easier to pass through your colon.

Soluble fiber consists of pectin, gum, and mucilage. Pectin is found in carrots, apples, beets, cabbage, citrus fruits, and bananas. Gums and mucilage are found in oat bran, sesame seeds, oats, oatmeal, legumes, guar gum, and gum arabic.

Besides helping prevent constipation, soluble fiber provides the following benefits.

· reduces the risk of heart disease
· reduces the risk of gallstones
· helps to remove toxic heavy metals and toxins from your colon
· helps to prevent the toxic condition call appendicitis
· regulates movement of sugar into the bloodstream
· helps to prevent hemorrhoids and fissures
· lowers cholesterol
· lowers absorption of fats in the intestines
· and most importantly, help prevent the overgrowth of bad bacteria in your colon.

Insoluble Fiber

Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water and consists of cellulose, hemi cellulose, and lignin. This type of fiber is extremely beneficial to your health. Because your body's enzymes cannot break down this fiber, like it does food, it remains in tack as it travels through your intestines and colon.

Insoluble fiber helps fecal matter travel faster through the small intestine and your colon and thereby prevents constipation.

It provides bulk to your fecal matter. It makes your stools larger, softer, and stimulates peristaltic movement as it touches your colon walls.

Insoluble fiber, like soluble fiber, slows down digestion. It also slows down absorption of protein, starch and fat and has the ability to inhibit the action of digestive enzymes.

Insoluble fibers are found in vegetables, wheat, and wheat bran. This type of fiber is considered an anti-carcinogen and a digestive aid. It is credited with preventing colon cancer and many other colon diseases.

You body needs soluble and insoluble fiber to help relieve and prevent constipation. It also helps to prevent many other diseases. Start adding more fiber to your diet and gain the benefits of better health.

Constipation has confused many people in that they don't know whether they have constipation or not. This confusion comes from doctors and other medical practitioners that say that you don't need to have a bowel movement everyday. And, that it is OK if you only have one every 2 - 3 days. Yes, those in the natural health field say you should have one for every meal that you eat every day.

The natural movement of the food you eat, from the time it enters your mouth to the time it exists your anus, is about 20 to 28 hours. This time will depend on what you eat. Fruits and vegetables move very fast and carbohydrates and protein move slower through your digestive system.

If you eat three solid meals a day, then you should expect to have at least two bowel movements each day and a maximum of three. If you do not, then there is something slowing down the movement of your food through your gastrointestinal tract. Here are two natural constipation remedies that you can use to speed up your bowel movements.

Constipation Remedies

Using natural constipation remedies is one way to correct slow moving food through your digestive system. If your stools are hard and you have a hard time eliminating them, then you need to do two things to start.

1. Drink more water during the day - you do not have to start drinking 8-10 glasses a day. But you should add a couple of more glasses than you normally drink and you can add drinking more fruit juices - apple, cherry, peach, grape, or grapefruit juice.

2. Eat more fruits in the morning - fruits have a lot of fiber and photonutrients that help you keep your colon healthy. Fiber in the fruits will soften your stool. In addition, fiber has the characteristic of attracting water. So fiber will soften your stools by the fiber it has and by the water it attracts and incorporates into the stool.

There are many other constipation remedies that you can use to insure regular bowel movement. Fiber is but one nutrient that you use to control bowel movement frequency. But start with these two and I will give you more tips in other articles.

Make sure you use natural fiber as is found in fruits. This is balanced fiber and your body knows what to do with it. If you use drug store fiber products that are synthetic, your body will not know how to use them and treats them as toxic matter.

Use the constipation remedies that help you with constipation, such as all the different fruits available to you. The nice thing about fruits is that they contain around 70% or more of water. This water is distilled water and this means that it is the cleanest water you can drink and also that you don't need to drink as much supplemental water.

Study Relationship Between Cod Liver Oil and Constipation Explained extra

Relationship Between Cod Liver Oil and Constipation Explained

Constipation

The relationship between cod liver oil and constipation is one of natural treatment and ailment. In other words, cod liver oil has been used to provide natural relief from constipation for many years. Other fish oils provide the same benefit, without the risks that can be associated with excess consumption of cod liver oil. Both of these oils provide essential omega-3 fatty acids, necessary for optimal brain, heart, joint and digestive function.

Both my parents and my grandparents took regular doses of cod liver oil and constipation was not a problem for them. After complaining of a "tummy ache", my mother gave me a spoonful of the nasty tasting, smelly stuff. After that, I kept my tummy aches to myself. Sure, it relieved the constipation, but "Yuck!" I could taste it for hours, every time I burped!

Today, the better fish oil supplements are molecularly distilled to remove the odor. In capsule form, they are tasteless. Storing the capsules in the freezer and/or taking them with food can prevent both the burping and any aftertaste, while still relieving occasional constipation.

Most people experience constipation occasionally. Too little fiber in the diet is one common cause, as is too little water. But, many other factors can contribute to occasional constipation. Prescription medications, dietary supplements containing iron, a sedentary lifestyle, traveling or other changes in routine and stress are some of the many things that can lead to constipation.

Excessive use of stimulant laxatives can cause the eventual dysfunction of the digestive muscles, leading to chronic constipation. Most people find that even occasional use of stimulant laxatives can cause cramping and discomfort. Fish oils improve digestive function, can be taken regularly and are "gentler" than most over-the-counter laxatives, like Ex-Lax. Many people relate cod liver oil and constipation prevention.

Just remember to choose wisely. All supplements are not the same. Cod liver oils contain vitamin A. Pregnant women should avoid supplements containing vitamin A, as it has been associated with a significant increase in birth defects. Too much vitamin A, in even healthy adults can be toxic. In general, it is safer to get your daily vitamin A requirements from food or beta carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A on an as-needed basis and is therefore non-toxic.

Other concerns over cod liver oil consumption are related to mercury contamination and contamination from other industrial pollutants. Mercury is stored in the livers of fish. Thus, there is a greater chance of mercury contamination in oils that come from fish livers. The source of most cod liver oils is the Atlantic Cod fish, which has been over harvested and swims in some of the most polluted waters in the world.

Fish oils derived from the "flesh" of the fish are generally safer alternatives. But, it is still necessary to choose carefully. Some oils are not molecularly distilled and contain mercury and other contaminants. And, if you are concerned about environmental issues, some fish are over harvested and their populations are not considered sustainable. Manufacturers should list the "source fish" (cod, shark, salmon, etc.), the distillation process used and the ocean from which the fish is harvested, but most do not.
